Why does the App Store review process hurt so much?
Most developers only learn about issues after submission.
The review process: before and after
The most common reasons Apple rejects apps
Using deprecated frameworks like UIWebView that Apple no longer permits.
Binary analysis scans all linked frameworks and flags deprecated symbols.
Calling private or undocumented Apple APIs that are forbidden in App Store apps.
Symbol-level binary scan cross-references against known private API databases.
Missing or incorrect privacy manifest and Required Reason API declarations.
PrivacyInfo.xcprivacy validation checks all 4 Required Reason API categories.
Screenshots that don't match required dimensions or are missing for required device sizes.
Validates resolution, dimensions, and device coverage for all required screen sizes.
Misleading descriptions, banned keywords, or incomplete app information.
Metadata scan checks character limits, banned words, keyword rules, and category fit.
Requesting capabilities or entitlements that don't match the app's actual functionality.
Entitlement extraction and cross-check against declared app capabilities.
PreReview catches these before you hit Submit.
The real cost of a single rejection
Every rejection cycle costs time, money, and users.
Real rejection stories
Sound familiar?
The deprecated API trap
Submitted the app, waited 5 days, got rejected for UIWebView. One-line fix, resubmitted — waited another 4 days. 9 days lost.
Deprecated APIThe privacy manifest maze
Rejected for missing NSPrivacyAccessedAPITypes. Researching the correct format took 3 days, then another 5-day wait after resubmission. 8 days total.
PrivacyThe screenshot spec nightmare
6.7" screenshots were 2px off the required resolution. Rejected after a 5-day review. Had to recreate all assets and wait again.
ScreenshotsThe hidden API in a dependency
A third-party SDK was calling private APIs. Apple flagged it, but we had no idea. Finding and replacing the library took days.
BinarySame stories, different ending — with PreReview
PreReview flagged UIWebView usage during pre-scan. Removed in 5 minutes. Approved on first submission.
9 days savedPreReview listed all missing Required Reason API declarations with exact keys needed. Fixed in 20 minutes.
8 days savedPreReview caught the 2px discrepancy and flagged missing 6.7" device screenshots before upload.
5+ days savedBinary scan detected private API calls inside the dependency. Switched SDK before ever submitting.

Frequently asked questions
Everything you need to know about PreReview — from how the analysis works to privacy and platform support.
PreReview performs three layers of analysis: metadata checks (app name, description, keywords, banned words, character limits), screenshot validation (dimensions, resolution, device coverage), and binary analysis (private APIs, deprecated frameworks, privacy manifest, entitlements, embedded secrets). Together, these cover the most common App Store rejection reasons.
No. Binary analysis runs entirely on your local machine through PreReview. Your IPA file never leaves your machine — not a single byte is transmitted over the network. Only the analysis results (findings and scores) are synced to generate your report.
PreReview works on any modern browser for metadata and screenshot analysis. Binary (IPA) analysis is available for macOS with full feature support, including native tool integration. Windows and Linux versions provide core analysis capabilities through cross-platform binary parsing.
No tool can guarantee App Store approval — Apple's review includes subjective criteria like design quality and user experience that require human judgment. PreReview catches the objective, technical issues that cause the majority of rejections: deprecated APIs, missing privacy manifests, incorrect metadata, and screenshot spec violations.
PreReview regularly crawls and syncs Apple's App Store Review Guidelines, Human Interface Guidelines, and technical documentation. When Apple updates their requirements — like the recent privacy manifest mandate — our rule engine is updated to reflect the changes.
Yes. PreReview analyzes the final compiled IPA file, regardless of how it was built. Whether your app uses Swift, Objective-C, React Native, Flutter, Unity, or any other framework, the binary analysis works the same way — it inspects the compiled output, not the source code.
We want to hear about it. Report missed findings through the app, and our team will investigate. Every report helps improve our rule engine and detection accuracy for the entire community.
Currently, PreReview focuses exclusively on Apple's App Store and iOS apps. Google Play Store support is on our roadmap, but we don't have a confirmed timeline yet. Join the waitlist to stay updated on new platform announcements.
